so, OK, I'm not quite going to quit, but i'm going to significantly cut down my hours so I'm only working a handful a week. Then if I get comfortable with it, I'll build them back up. And I'll live like a pauper in the meantime! well, I hope I've not disappointed any of you lot. I'm just doing the best i can out here! with all my attendant fears etc.

Cutting down on hours sounds like a good idea...you should give it a few more weeks, and then if you're really still not liking it you can always find something else to do...even in Prague! Are you still applying to jobs in Russia or are you thinking of staying in Prague? If you do go to Russia, DON'T enter any vodka-drinking contests: http://www.gazeta.ru/2003/11/19/kz_m104601.shtml . I have a friend who used to work at an English paper there and has lots of contacts if you have any interest!

Sounds like a plan. I agree that your professionalism is overwhelming and will most likely get you through this and perhaps one day catapult you to international fame as the most dynamic teacher of english ever born. When you are ready, of course.
And if you are cutting back your hours, I expect that you will find some time to email me. Life is boring and I need Czech stories.
